October is Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month, a cause that is very dear to my heart. I'm not sure how many of my readers have read my introduction post but I have lost three babies myself. My oldest Phoebe passed almost halfway through the pregnancy in 2010. My favorite memory with her was my huge craving for dill pickle chips which I could not find anywhere! I lived in North Carolina at the time and grew up with access to dill pickle chips and low and behold whenever I craved them.... I couldn't get to them! My second baby passed 6 weeks during the pregnancy and I can remember baking cookies at 10pm with that sweet little one. Our sweet precious baby boy RJ passed when he was 9 days old and I can't even begin to list all the sweet memories with him. The one that stands out the most is that I used to sing to him when he was still in my belly. His favorite song was Elvis Presley's Teddy Bear. He would move and grove so much to that song while I sang it to him, it still warms my heart to close my eyes and picture seeing his little arms and legs and bootie moving inside my belly. So I've been through a loss during three different stages. I find myself thinking of my babies a lot the closer it gets to October 15th. I have two things that bring me comfort. One is my quilt that a sweet friend of mine put together out of fabric gathered from a wonderful support group. The quilt is big enough to cover my queen size bed. The second thing that brings me comfort is my RJ Bear. It is a weighted teddy bear that has 7lbs 11oz of weight to it in honor of my sweet baby boy's birth weight. It is made by the wonderful sweet lady who founded Molly Bears. Molly Bears is a non-profit organization that fills the arms of angel mommies with a bear that weighs the amount of their angel. This is straight from the Molly Bears website.
"To order your very own Molly Bear, we open the order form once a month, on the 30th (Midnight E.S.T.) for a limited number of orders.
You provide all information; child's name, weight, birthdate/angel date, any special requests and other information. Once your order and payment fee of $20 is completed, you will be placed on our waiting list.
Molly Bears is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. Molly Bears wants to support our families through every stage of grief and to join with them in each celebration of remembrance and time of hope. Our goal is to provide a bear for every set of empty arms, to place supportive and educational literature in every hospital and to fund SIDS and infant loss research efforts.

Please consider donating to Molly Bears so that other angel mommies can receive their bears. It would mean so much to me. I have three Molly Bears. One for each of my babies. They bring so much comfort to me. Here is the link to the Molly Bear's Website and the Molly Bears Facebook Page.
Also, if you are an angel mom and are reading this I encourage you to share your story in the comments if you feel comfortable. Especially if you have been able to receive a Molly Bear and want to encourage others to donate to this wonderful organization. We all can share the stories of our babies so that others can carry on their memories. Plus I love reading the stories of fellow angel moms and comments! :)
Also feel free to share so we can raise money for our fellow angel families waiting on their bears.

I also received a Molly Bear for my sweet Anneliese. I also donated to purchase an express pass for a online friend in one of my mommy groups who lost a child the year before me. I have become more giving since losing Anneliese, and try to help others in her memory. Molly Bears is actually a local non-profit for me, as I reside in their home state. If only I had more time, and more sewing skills, so I could help them out. Instead I did what I could to get someone else their bear.
ReplyDeleteThat is awesome. I am hoping by sharing the word about Molly Bears hopefully we can raise some funds for them to get out extra bears this month since it is Pregnancy & Infant Awareness Month. Thank you for sharing!
